A newly passed bill in Georgia would greatly expand where residents and licensed gun owners from other states can legally carry firearms in the state.
It is officially called the Safe Carry Protection Act, but some law enforcement officers are left to wonder how safe the bill actually is. On page 23 of the bill, it states that police can not detain someone to check if that person has a permit to carry a weapon.
The bill would also allow gun owners to carry guns in bars, nightclubs, some government buildings and some churches. The bill is awaiting Governor Nathan Deal's signature.
