Nintendo’s Latest Team: Olympic Gymnast and Superhero Plumber

Gabrielle “Gabby” Douglas may be best known for her Gold-Medal winning gymnastic routines, but now she’s looking for gold in the Mushroom Kingdom.

Douglas was the Nintendo World Store in New York City as part of the new “Play as You Are” campaign from Nintendo.

The event also highlighted Nintendo’s latest installment in their long-running Mario franchise, which originates all the way back in the 80s with the “Jumpman” character in the Arcade Smash hit “Donkey Kong.”

This latest game is New Super Mario Brothers 2 for the Nintendo 3DS handheld. This game has a strong focus on coin-collecting and also takes Mario across a variety of worlds in his quest to once again rescue Princess Peach.

Douglas says she has been a long-time fan of Nintendo, enjoying franchises such as Mario and Kirby.
