Casinos on Mississippi Gulf Coast Start Reopening

BILOXI, Miss. (AP) -- Some of the 12 casinos on Mississippi Gulf Coast started reopening Thursday, just over a day after the most severe weather from Hurricane Isaac pushed through the area.
The two casinos in Hancock County closed Monday, and the 10 in Harrison County were ordered to close Tuesday as Isaac was still in the Gulf of Mexico.
Island View in Gulfport and three casinos in Biloxi -- Beau Rivage, Hard Rock and IP -- opened by Thursday evening, and some others were expected to, as well.
The Grand and the Palace casinos say they plan to open Friday.
There's some urgency to get the doors open. Coast casinos win more than $20 million from gamblers in even a slow week. And, Labor Day is traditionally a busy time.
