A few Dothan city schools are celebrating. The winners have been announced for the “Yes We Can Do Good” competition.
Students worked hard for about a month to get canned food donations. Then the teams built structures out of the cans.
Kelly Springs Elementary School won first place.
They built the Hungry Caterpillar, and were surprised Wednesday morning with a trophy and a check for $1,400.
The school's principal, Sharon Kelley, says the money will be used for technology upgrades.
“We're working towards that right now. We're building our technology so we can build those students of the 21st century and to have all of those 21st century skills,” said Kelley.
Head Start came in second and won $650. Cloverdale Elementary and Beverlye Middle School placed 3rd and won $200.
Each school that participated won at least $100.
