World Health Organization Wants Tougher Action Against Tobacco

The World Health Organization is calling on tougher action against tobacco in every country.

WHO's Director General called for the action while in Beijing, China. That country has the most smokers in the world. Tobacco is estimated to have contributed as much as 10 percent of China's tax revenue.

The WHO says tobacco companies often pressure governments "not" to increase regulations, because of the affects on the economy. Beijing pledged to prohibit smoking in most public venues.
