On January 28 at approximately 5:30pm the Chipley Police Department was dispatched to South Blvd. in the area of the First Baptist Church. The call was dispatched as a vehicle crash involving a pedestrian.

It was determined that vehicle 1 was traveling west bound on South Blvd. Chipley resident, 33 year old Lesley Dingwall and her dog were walking west bound on the north shoulder of South Blvd.

As vehicle 1 approached, the pedestrian and dog stepped onto the roadway directly in the path of vehicle 1.

Vehicle 1 struck the pedestrian and dog, killing the dog instantly. Miss Dingwall was transported by Washington County EMS to a Dothan, Alabama hospital where she later passed away.

There are no charges anticipated as a result of this investigation. The investigation is being handled by the Chipley Police Department.
