Wiregrass Students Enjoyed The Heart Beat Health Fair

Heart health was the main topic for Wiregrass students today, all because of "the Heart Beat Health Fair."

More than 1,500 Dothan City students were at the National Peanut Festival fairgrounds.

They were viewing exhibits about heart health, healthy foods and exercise.

Organizers hope this event will decrease childhood obesity.

"The obesity rate in Alabama, we still rate up in the top 11 now and we aren’t number one anymore but we want to start people at an earlier age how to make healthier choices so they can be healthier adults," said
Rosalind James.

Students were even able to go through a medical inflatable heart tour.
