It's not always what goes bump in the night that scares many people during Halloween. In this spooky economy, it's the hit that you wallet takes that may make the hairs on the back of you neck stand up.

"As far as sells, the only way we've been able to do any good with them is by having 50 percent off the costumes." A percentage that isn't doing too much for her business as far as sales, but it is getting people in the door.

"People want to buy but unfortunately costume prices keep going up and I don't know why." But that's not putting a damper on her Halloween spirit. Instead she's looking on the bright side of this otherwise grim holiday.

"If the Wiregrass were to get some more jobs going here, we'd be doing good like we used to." Donna has been in business twenty years but things get worse every day.

"The past two years have been probably the worse I've ever seen." In fact Shanahan says that people in the Wiregrass aren't going all out when it comes to Halloween costumes because the price of a simple mask like this one may scare you.

But there are some customers like Bruce Walker who won't let the magic of the holiday die. "Halloween is one of my favorite holidays and it's been for kids and adults. It's all about having fun and going out for candy."

He has to work on Halloween Day but he still plans on breaking out his zombie costume for the occasion. And Shanahan thinks that the loyalty that some of her customers like Walker displays is what makes Halloween...well...Halloween.

"I always say it's getting better, it's gonna be great you know from here on out."

Shanahan has twenty years experience in the business and after Wednesday, she'll be hoping for twenty more.
