Wiregrass Food Bank Collects for 'Souper Bowl'

Super Bowl Sunday is a few days away and while you're out shopping you may want to pick up an extra item for our local "Souper Bowl."

The Wiregrass Food Bank is set up outside Southside Walmart Friday.

They're collecting cans of soup for the "Souper Bowl" soup drive.

The soup goes along with the food bank's brown bag program.

That program feeds seniors in the Wiregrass in six counties.

"We have 1600 senior citizens we started off with two cans of soup and now we're up to six cans of soup so that they can have something nice and warm in their tummies for the month of February." "help us feed our senior citizens they've done for us already so what more can we do for them than give them some soup for their bag," said Shirley Henderson.

You have until 6 p.m. Friday to drop off your soup cans.

If you can't stop by Walmart you can call the food bank at 334-794-9775 to find a donation location near you.
You have until February 7th to donate.
