HARTFORD, Ala. - Wiregrass Electric Cooperative recently named Les Moreland as chief executive officer of the region's power distributor. Moreland, who joined the cooperative in 2005 as chief financial officer has been serving as interim CEO since August 2013, when former CEO Michael McWaters resigned.
"Mr. Moreland was selected after an extensive national search" says Kip Justice, WEC board president. "We appreciate Mr. Moreland's leadership during this transition period, and we are excited about what is ahead for Wiregrass Electric.
"This area benefits from having one of the strongest, most progressive electric utilities in the nation," says Justice. "I believe we will only be stronger in the coming years."
"I am humbled and grateful to have been selected," says Moreland. "WEC has developed a culture of excellence, and our employees are the absolute best anywhere in this industry. It will be a privilege to be the CEO of this great team."
