HOUSTON COUNTY -- The Wiregrass Children's Home received a $25,000 check on Monday.

1st Franklin Financial made the donation to the children's home.

Executive Director Christie Armstrong said it will go towards the facility's operating costs.

She said that amount of money could feed the children and the house parents for two years, pay for transportation for three years and cover the cost of electricity for a few years.

Armstrong said when 1st Franklin Financial called her, she was shocked.

"We're flabbergasted, we're blown away, blessed, I think there's tons of words to describe how I felt when I got the call that we were going to receive 25 thousand dollars," Armstrong said. "I think I probably dropped the phone a couple of times."

The Wiregrass Children's Home is an emergency shelter for neglected and abused children.
Typically, the home cares for ten children at a time.
