What's Next for the Dothan Landfill?

DOTHAN, AL - Still no news on what's next for the Dothan landfill.

The landfill is expected to reach full capacity in the next two years. That's why the city wanted to expand the site.

Earlier this month, the zoning board came to a no vote on the issue. The board said it didn't have enough information to grant the city's request.

But Dothan Mayor Mike Schmitz says they're not giving up.

"We still believe that the expansion of the existing landfill is the best answer for the city."

Mayor Schmitz says they still have options. They can either go back before the zoning board or have the issue decided in circuit court.
