Dothan, Ala.—Wallace Community College is bringing Pulitzer Prize-winning author and Alabama native Rick Bragg to Dothan Thursday, March 21.

Bragg hails from Piedmont, Alabama, where he grew up on a farm and listened to his family tell stories. His love of stories led him to a career in journalism and ultimately a stint at The New York Times. Since leaving The Times, he has authored four books: All Over but the Shoutin’, Ava's Man, The Prince of Frogtown and I Am a Soldier Too: The Jessica Lynch Story, all Pulitzer Prize nominees and New York Times Best Sellers.

Bragg won a Pulitzer Prize for feature writing in 1996 and has received more than 50 writing awards in 20 years, including two prestigious American Society of Newspaper Editors Distinguished Writing Awards (1991 and 1996). In 1992, he was awarded a Neiman Fellowship at Harvard University.

Bragg has taught writing at various colleges and is currently a writing professor at The University of Alabama College of Communications and Information Sciences.

The event is free and open to the public. Copies of Bragg’s books will be available for sale at the signing.
