DOTHAN, AL--Tuesday Dothan city commissioners authorized a tax-exempt multi-family rental housing revenue bond.
The Public Finance Authority will issue the bonds to assist Dothan Affordable Housing, LLC with purchasing and improving Vaughn Towers Apartments on South Saint Andrews Street.
Officials say there's no obligation on the city's part.
"It will still be low to moderate income housing, they intend to purchase and renovate it with the bonds that will be sold and hopefully make a positive renovation to that facility," said Dothan City Manager Mike West.
Officials say anytime a non-government entity issues a tax exempt bond the local governing body has to approve it.
