University Tuition Costs Bump Up Less Than 3 Percent

Students at public universities are getting a break, sort of.

The average cost of in-state tuition at public 4 year colleges this year is $8,900 a year.

That's an increase of less than 3 percent.

It's the smallest bump in tuition costs since 1975.

This is also a dramatic slowdown from the annual 8 percent increase in tuition coststhat became the norm over the last few decades.
