USTA Southern Tennis Tournament

A huge tennis match, with a huge name, has taken over Dothan. The USTA Southern Combo Doubles Sectional Tennis Championship Tournament was well underway at Westgate Park this weekend. More than 100 teams, with competitors ages 50 and up, hit the court. On top of being a major sporting event, economists say the tourism boost is great for our area.

"They're staying in all our hotels, eating in our all restaurants, going shopping buying gas. It’s just wonderful and we have perfect weather,” said Bob Hendrix, Executive Director of Dothan Convention of Visitors Bureau.

Several southern states got in on the game. Experts say after all is said and done, the event will have brought in one million dollars to Dothan. The big finals are tomorrow.
