By  |

Evidence in the George Zimmerman investigation has been handed over to the U.S. Justice Department.

The agency is investigating whether Zimmerman violated Trayvon Martin's civil rights when he fatally shot him last year.

Zimmerman was acquitted of second-degree murder charges in the case earlier this month. He claims he shot martin in self-defense.

Civil rights groups nationwide are calling for the Justice Department to file charges against Zimmerman.
