On Sunday, April 20th at approximately 1:37 a.m. Washington County Sheriff’s Office received a call from the Alabama Bureau of Investigations advising that a vehicle involved in a shooting of an Alabama State Trooper in Geneva County, AL was owned by a resident of Washington County.
Officers with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office were immediately dispatched to perform a welfare check on the registered vehicle owner, 66-year-old James W. Shore of 2754 Dauphin Road in Washington County.
When WCSO officers arrived on scene they immediately performed a search of the residence and surrounding property. Officers found Mr. Shores deceased behind a family farmhouse at 2842 Johnson Road as a result of suspected foul play.
WCSO Crime Lab, assisted by the FDLE Crime Lab, were dispatched to the scene. Investigators with WCSO are continuing extensive interviews and a search of all vehicles on the property at this time.
Currently, there are persons of interests in this suspected homicide in custody.
