TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) -- University of Alabama officials say the school will begin offering a software engineering concentration in the computer science program this fall.
Head of the computer science department David Cordes told AL.com Tuesday that the concentration will help the university continue providing Alabamians "educational opportunities needed to successfully compete in tomorrow's global economy."
The software engineering concentration is the sixth degree option available under the computer science program.
The concentration will consist of 12 credit hours in specialized coursework. University officials say students will learn about human-computer interaction, software design, web-based systems and project management.
