Two six-year-old elementary students were suspended from a Maryland school Monday (01/14) for using their fingers as imaginary guns while at recess.
One of the boy's father is Army Staff Sgt. Stephen Grafton--he did not want to be interviewed on camera--but said the school's decision to suspend the children from the White Marsh Elementary School crossed the line. Many residents agreed.
The Talbot County Board of Education released this statement regarding the suspensions: Quote: “It is frustrating for school systems, because a complete explanation of events cannot be provided due to confidentiality requirements under the federal educational rights and privacy act.”
But some believe gun play of any kind is not appropriate for school. They say in today's world it's hard to tell how far is too far.
