TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) -- A second suspect in the slaying of an Alabama college student has turned himself in after the first man wanted in the crime was arrested in Georgia.
Tuscaloosa County sheriff's officials say 24-year-old Timothy "Junior" Thornton turned himself in at the sheriff's office around 5 p.m. Sunday.
Earlier, 18-year-old Kiunte Jerome Furr was arrested Sunday morning at an apartment complex in Savannah, Ga. He is being held in the Chatham County Jail pending extradition to Alabama.
Police in Tuscaloosa, Ala., say both men are suspects in the April 9 shooting death of 17-year-old Matthew Hunter Callahan at a condominium complex. Callahan was student at Shelton State Community College, and investigators believe he was killed during a robbery attempt.
It wasn't known whether the two suspects have attorneys.
