Two Hurt in Boat Explosion, Fire Near Gulf Shores

GULF SHORES, Ala. (AP) -- Police say two people were hospitalized after an explosion caused a boat to catch fire near Gulf Shores.

Reports say that the 24-foot boat was in the Intercoastal Waterway near Gulf Shores when the explosion happened on Saturday afternoon.

Four people were on board, according to Gulf Shores police. One person was taken by helicopter to the USA Medical Center Burn Unit. A second victim was taken to South Baldwin Hospital. The other two were not hurt.

The cause of the explosion and fire remains under investigation.
