Two Wiregrass Greek organizations have teamed up to celebrate and recognize service in the community.
Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Incorporated and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Incorporated held a community luncheon Saturday afternoon at the Walton Park Recreation Center. Each organization honored it’s founders who stand on the principles of scholarship and service. Mrs. Jacqueline Mills was the featured speaker and she challenged everyone in the room to step up their roles in the Wiregrass.
"Our motto is culture for service and service for humanity. We're excited today to not just celebrate 100 years of service but to continue that legacy in our communities through clothing drives, through offering scholarships and just being mentors to our young black men,” said James Winfrey III the Wiregrass Sigmas chapter president.
In the future Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Incorporated is planning to collect shoes for those in need.
