ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) -- Police say two young children made their way out of a St. Petersburg house and fell into a backyard pool where they nearly drowned.

Adults inside the home noticed the toddlers missing Monday night and found them under water in the pool. St. Petersburg police say the children were pulled from the pool and someone called 911 while others began resuscitation efforts.

Police say the year-old children were taken to All Children's Hospital in St. Petersburg, where they didn't appear to have life threatening injuries.
An investigation is under way to determine whether there was any negligence. Officers say multiple families live at the home.
