Troy U. Offers Training in Economic Development

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) -- Troy University will offer at its Montgomery campus professional training to individuals who work in economic development.

University officials announced Tuesday that the Southeast Community Development Institute will locate on the Montgomery campus. The new institute will be one of five locations in the United States offering the Professional Community and Economic Developer Certificate.

Officials said the institute will offer three one-week sessions each year that cover various aspects of community and economic development.

The first class is scheduled to begin in April 2013. The assistant director of Troy's Center for International Business and Economic Development, Courtney Taylor, has been named to head up the new institute.
