Troy Murder Arrest

Suroy Manquel Wheeler waived extradition in Oxnard, CA in connection with the death of Melissa Shipman of Troy according to information released by Chief Jimmy Ennis Friday.

Wheeler will be returned to Troy to face the murder charges against him in this case. He is expected to be back in Troy within the next two weeks. TPD will contract with a prisoner transport company to return Wheeler to Troy.

He has been charged in the Saturday October 27th murder of Shipman. Her body was found in her apartment that same day.

Chief Ennis received information last week that Wheeler was possibly in California. Wheeler was reported to be at the Norwalk bus terminal in Los Angeles. He was trying to get to Oxnard, CA.

Troy Police Detectives coordinated efforts with the US Marshals Service and the Oxnard Police Department. Shortly after the bus form Los Angeles arrived in Oxnard, Wheeler was arrested by the Oxnard PD for the Saturday murder of 29-year-old Melissa Shipman at Troy Villa Apartments on Henderson Street in Troy.
