TROY, AL - The Troy Police Department has arrested 27 year old Jeremy Jerome Owens of Troy on the charge of Arson 1st degree, according to information released by Chief Jimmy Ennis.
At approximately 7:30pm on July 29th, the Troy Police Department responded to Oak Dale Apartments on a fire call. Troy Fire and Police arrived to find a top floor apartment on fire. Officers were advised of a suspect running from the building at the time of the fire and given a description, along with a direction of travel. University Officers made contact with the suspect who was identified later to be Owens. Owens was taken into custody after Assaulting one of the University Officers, and that charge will be filed by the University Police. Owens was transported to the Troy City Jail pending warrants on the Assault of the University Officer and subsequent investigation into the fire. A witness on the scene stated that Owens was observed running from the apartment at the time the fire intensified, and the apartment was Owens residence. The Troy Police Department Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Owens on the charge of Arson 1st degree, which is a Class A felony. Owens was processed and transported to the Pike County Jail on $50,000 bond.
