Troy Attempted Kidnapping Arrest

Troy Police responded to a reported man with a gun in the waiting room at the at the Department Human Resources on South Three Notch Street today at approximately 11:15 AM according to information released by Chief Jimmy Ennis.

Troy Police have arrested Benjamin Franklin Williams, a 24-year-old black male from Brundidge for attempted kidnapping and breaking and entering a vehicle in the parking lot of DHR. The victim in this case is 28-years-old.

A subsequent investigation revealed an altercation occurred in the DHR parking lot between Williams and the victim in this morning. Police also learned they were notified by a third party not in the building.

TPD officers made entry into the building and evacuated employees and other people in the building. TPD officers went through the building and cleared each room in an attempt locate a suspect with a gun. The building was cleared and no one was found in the building with a gun.

Williams was arrested at the Troy Police Department at approximately 3:15 PM today without incident by Troy Police Detectives. His bond in the attempted kidnapping was set at $5,000.00 and $2,500.00 in the breaking and entering a vehicle. Williams has been transferred to the Pike County Jail.
