Tropical Storm Hector Heads West in Pacific

Tropical Storm Hector is slowly moving westward in the Pacific after weakening off the coast of Mexico.

The National Hurricane Center in Miami reports that Hector's maximum sustained winds were near 45 mph (72 kph) late Monday night, with little change in strength expected over the next couple of days.

The storm is centered about 400 miles (644 kilometers) south-southwest of the southern tip of Mexico's Baja California peninsula and moving westward near 6 mph (10 kph).
