Tornado Damages 40 Homes in Volusia County

EDGEWATER, Fla. (AP) -- Forty homes have been damaged by a tornado that ripped through Volusia County.

The Edgewater Fire Department says a tornado touched down Monday afternoon, ripping off roofs of some of the homes. At least a dozen of those homes were destroyed.

The Daytona Beach News-Journal reports two people sustained minor scratches. No major injuries were reported.

Firefighters are assessing the damage that includes trees and power lines down and debris along roadways.
