Toadlick Organizers Say Event Will Go On As Planned

DOTHAN, AL -- A Houston County Circuit Judge will hear arguments on Thursday for a motion filed earlier this week regarding the Toadlick Music Festival. The injunction was filed on behalf of Walker360, asking that a Toadlick business account be frozen.

Circuit Judge Larry Anderson will hear arguments and consider the motion at 10 a.m. on Thursday at the Houston County Courthouse. Meanwhile, organizers for the Toadlick Music Festival say the event will go on as planned next week.

Walker360, a marketing firm from Montgomery filed the lawsuit last week, and filed an injunction in Houston County on Monday, asking that the festival's business account from this year's event be frozen. The lawsuit seeks payment of $50,000 in outstanding debt from services rendered for last year's Toadlick festival, with $17,000 of that total coming in interest.

Toadlick organizers dispute this number, claiming only $33,000 has yet to be paid to Walker360, with $150,000 already paid to the Montgomery firm.

“The music will not be silenced,” said Toadlick founder and CEO Chris Gilbert of Dothan. “We will be busy this weekend at the National Peanut Festival Fairgounds getting everything ready for the show.”

Toadlick Music Festival is scheduled to begin on April 24th, bringing more than 20 acts to Dothan, including The Band Perry, Merle Haggard, REO Speedwagon and Billy Currington. Event organizers say ticket sales are up 25 percent from last year's event, with more than 40,000 people expected to attend the three-day music festival.

Sponsors and vendors will begin setting up for the April 24-26 event early next week. Campers can access the site beginning Wednesday.
