Cakes, cookies, pies and peanuts...
People all over the Wiregrass are excited about the National Peanut Festival and what better way to show it than to enter the annual recipe contest.
"I made a peanut butter apple dip."
"And why are you going to win?"
"Because it's yummy!"
Judges say it was a tough decision, so they just let their taste buds do the talking.
"It was so much to try and just trying to get your taste buds adjusted to get ready for the next one."
Christy Russell won the grand prize for the adult division.
She says baking has always been a passion of hers.
"This is just something that's always made me feel close to my family. It's something I do to please them. It's a way to show them how much I care about them."
Organizers say they look forward to this event every year because the celebration represents something that is dear to our community.
"Dothan is the peanut capital of the world and we're famously known for that and we've got some great cooks here in the area. So this is part of our celebration of our harvest of peanuts."
So whether you're into baking with peanuts, harvesting peanuts, or you just enjoy eating them…
