The Labor Day Experience

By  |

Some spent today's Labor Day relaxing, others had to work the holiday. News 4's Brandon Rook hit the Dothan streets to talk to a few folks about their Labor Day experience.

Labor Day means one thing to Antonio Clark.

"It's all about family, oh we just playing around, playing a little soccer and playing a little football."" said Clark.

In the blazing heat, but it's all worth it. Clark loves having a little fun with his wife, and two sons Isaiah and Jitterbug.

"He like to get up and go so I got to try to be there for him you know so because I know my daddy wasn't there for me so I got to try to do the best I can for them...this economy bad but at the same time they have jobs out here. I don't care if you have to get a job at Burger King or if you have to get a job at McDonalds. You just have to get out there and hustle and go out there and get what you got to get. The legal way," said Clark.

Kayla Emmil didn't get to stay home for the holiday but the team leader at BBQ shack doesn't mind clocking in.

"I'm grateful just to have the extra income to come in and help because it's hard now... prices are so high that having a job still will have you barely making ends meet," said Emmil.

That's why people like her appreciate the working hard, even on a holiday. Labor Day is celebrated on the first Monday of every September. Today's holiday is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers.
