The History Of The National Peanut Festival

The 3 day event started in 1938.

Originally held at the Houston County Farm Center , the festival moved to the current Fairgrounds in 1999.

Now, It lasts for 10 days.

"There are different events based on your interest that you can participate in and for some this is the only opportunity for individuals to go to an event local that's equivalent to going to Disney World, " said Beverly Jones Lampkin, Secretary Treasurer of The National Peanut Festival.

Doctor George Washington Carver was the guest speaker at the first National Peanut Festival.
