The Dothan Technology Center Holds Career Awareness Day

Zoey White says she knows she has to start working towards her future career right now.

"You need to be focused on your job and study really hard."

The Dothan Technology Center is using Career Awareness Day to help more students understand that concept.

"We have a lot of vendors from around the City of Dothan that are here and from around Houston County that have come to help us today to introduce the kids to different careers and things that we have here in our area and hopefully it will spark an interest in them and help to be able to relate their education and what they're learning in the classroom to future careers and where those careers can take them."

"And most everyone agrees that getting kids started early in picking a career really makes the difference."

"Fifth graders, they're about to make their transition into middle school and then from middle school to high school so it's important to start early."

"These kids being at such a young age it starts now as far as you give them some dreams out there and show what's out there for them and what it takes to kinda achieve those goals. Get started in something now, find a passion, go for that passion, have that dream and go fulfill that dream."

"Some kids might get interested in what they see today and have a specific focus and a goal to work towards."

"Hopefully by the time they reach high school they'll see that there are areas here that interest them and that they can pursue a career in."

Whether it's a career in television or a career in masonry, the Dothan Technology School has training for everyone.
