Chipley – Drivers traveling in the southbound lanes of U.S. 231 in Jackson County, approximately one mile south of the U.S. 231 Welcome Center will encounter temporary closures Tuesday, Oct. 8 through Friday, Oct. 22.
Workers will install a drill shaft, beams and sensors for the new Virtual Weigh In Motion (VWIM) Station. Work is scheduled to be completed December 2013. Lane closures will remain in effect from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. daily.
The VWIM station will provide real-time information to assist regulatory agencies enforcing commercial vehicle compliance.
Construction activities are weather dependent and may be delayed or re-scheduled in the event of inclement weather. Motorists, pedestrian and bicyclists are reminded to travel with care through the work zone and to watch for construction equipment and workers entering and exiting the roadway.
