(Dothan,AL)--The Dothan Chamber of Commerce honored Dothan City and Houston County teachers on Thursday. A reception was held for private and public teachers at the Wiregrass Museum of Art.

Dothan Superintendent Tim Wilder said the event was to honor everyday teachers who make a great impact in the community.

"They're over-worked, underpaid, and operate on a small budget, so it's important to thank them for everything that they do," Wilder said.

Elementary school teacher Robin Dickens attended the reception. She said while she appreciates being recognized for her dedication in the classroom, she also said she's just doing her job.

"I love children, I have worked in the church with children, this is my job," Dickens said. "I love what I do and i can find a way to teach them no matter what the school budget is," she said.

The Dothan Area Chamber of Commerce, along with Houston County and Dothan City School Board would like to thank everyone who donated gifts for the event.
