Teachers Prepare For Kindergarteners

Groups of teachers throughout the Wiregrass area prepare to help young children succeed at a Kindergarten Readiness Workshop.

Providers and participants gathered this morning at Grandview Elementary School to network and gain a common goal of helping Wiregrass children thrive in school. Teachers were also educated on best practices in early childhood education. Organizers say this effort is to help the communities children start off on the right track.

"The more successful you are in your kindergarten and first grade years equals to having lifelong success in school so it's very important to have them ready when they get into kindergarten for that reason," said Collins Trott, the HIPPY Coordinator at the Saliba Center for Families.

This event was also sponsored by Wallace Community College and the Houston County Children's Policy.
