Suspicious Vehicle Stop Leads to Drug Arrest in Jackson County

On 7-6-2014 at approximately 1906hrs, Jackson County Sheriff's Deputy's were dispatched to the Habitat for Humanity located at 4736 Hwy 90, Marianna FL 32446 in reference to a suspicious vehicle.

Upon Sheriff's Deputy's attempting to make contact with the occupants, the vehicle abruptly pulled onto Panhandle Road and traveled south across Hwy 90 in a careless manner, into the parking lot of Beals Outlet. A traffic stop was the performed on the vehicle and contact was made with the driver and passenger, Shon Marie Massey. A Sheriff's Office Narcotics Detection K-9 responded and was deployed to perform a “Free Air Sniff” around exterior of the vehicle.

The K9 alerted to the odor of narcotics emitting from the interior of the vehicle and a probable cause search was subsequently conducted. The search revealed a purse belonging to Massey containing a quantity of Cocaine, a quantity of Methamphetamine, and several paraphernalia items including a metal paraphernalia pipe with residue. At approximately 1942hrs, Shon Marie Massey was placed under arrest.
