Suroy Manquel Wheeler was taken into custody in Oxnard, CA by Oxnard Police at approximately 5:00 pm central time on Monday according to information released by Chief Jimmy Ennis.
Chief Ennis received information from Pike County Sheriff Russell Thomas that Wheeler was possibly in California. He advised that Wheeler was supposed to be at the Norwalk bus terminal in Los Angeles. He was trying to get to Oxnard, CA .
Troy Police Detectives coordinated efforts with the US Marshals Service and the Oxnard Police Department. Shortly after the bus form Los Angeles arrived in Oxnard, Wheeler was arrested by the Oxnard PD for the Saturday murder of 29-year-old Melissa Shipman at Troy Villa Apartments on Henderson Street in Troy.
Extradition proceedings will now begin to return Wheeler to Troy to stand trial for the murder of Shipman.
