A brief but strong thunderstorm rolled through the Wiregrass on Sunday causing damage in various locations. Businesses and stoplights were knocked out at the intersection of Ross Clark Circle and Fortner Street, as well as the intersection of the Circle and Hartford Highway. The outage caused police to direct traffic.
Among the damage was the awning at the Fast Stop gas station on the Circle. The storm's high winds caused the awning to come completely down, with part of it hitting a nearby truck. No-one was injured. Power was restored shortly after the incident.
