Thanksgiving is here, and that means time with family and friends.
According to triple a 90% of people who will travel will navigate by car.
For state trooper Kevin cook, that means law enforcement will be vigilant.

"We just want to make sure our presence is seen, when people see a law enforcement officer they have a tendency to say, I need to slow down, or hey, watch my driving habits, and that's what we want people to do we want them to see us, see our presence out there and that's what normally does it," says Trooper Kevin Cook.

Beyond being seen all over the roads in our area, the troopers will be looking for traffic violations.

"Don’t drink and drive zero tolerance, we have had that and its going to continue t be that way, zero tolerance," says Trooper Kevin Cook.

And if you break that law?

"Jail time they will be arrested and taken to jail," says Trooper Kevin Cook.

For these construction workers heading to Pensacola that's not a risk their willing to take.

"It’s not a good idea, stay sober, stay on the road, and do the right thing," says one driver.

The right thing also means putting down the cell phone.

"Texting and driving it's a big thing, you know we just passed our law in Alabama august first of this year about texting and riving. We will be enforcing all traffic violations that we see occur," says Trooper Kevin Cook.

"Just try to do the speed limit try to pay attention real good, and make sure we don't do nothing to have the cops stop us," says one driver.

Something these two want to be thankful for this weekend.
