State Hasn't Made Decision in Kidnapping Case Yet

Wednesday News 4 told you federal prosecutors dropped the kidnapping charge against Charles Dean Partin.
Now it's up to the state to pursue those charges.

As of right now it's unclear where the state stands.

News 4 spoke with district attorney Doug Valeska Thursday and he says he hasn't made a decision yet, on if he will file kidnapping charges against Charles Dean Partin.

He says he's talking with the feds and he hopes to make a decision by Friday.

Partin appeared in court Wednesday in Montgomery.

He waived the detention hearing.
So he will remain in jail until further notice.
A federal grand jury indicted partin on transporting stolen vehicles across state lines.
Partin pleaded not guilty to that charge.

Partin is accused of kidnapping his 15-year-old step-daughter Ailene lander and leading police on a multi-state manhunt, which ended in ohio.

News 4 will check back with Doug Valeska Friday to see if he has made a decision.

Partin's wife and Ailene Lander's mother, Julie Bethke, remains in the Houston County Jail on $350,000 bond.

She's charged with felony interfering with custody.
