Thursday is the day of giving.
A local group is helping to feed senior citizens in the Wiregrass through its "Souper Bowl Campaign."
The Wiregrass-Area United Way Food Bank collected donations at the South-Side Wal-Mart in Dothan Thursday.
The goal is to raise 10,000 cans to feed 1600 people.
"Your can of soup can help someone get through the month. With them having the soup, can free up some money so they can get soap, bleach and personal items they can't get," said Assistant Director and Brown Bag Coordinator Shirley Henderson.
Henderson looks to give at least 6-cans to each person.
The soup will be distributed in 2-weeks.
