Shooting Suspect Arrested by Dothan Police

Dothan Police were called to West Newton Street on Monday after receiving a call about shots being fired.

Upon arrival to the scene, Police saw a victim with a gunshot wound to his upper arm. He was transported to a local hospital where he was treated and released.

Police say, Jaquez DeShawn Corbitt, 19, was involved in a physical altercation with the victim. The victim allegedly put Corbitt in a choke hold. Police say that was when Corbitt withdrew a gun and began firing shots at the ground. Corbitt was released by the victim and began to ran away. As the victim escaped, he was shot in the arm.

Corbitt was located and arrested by Dothan Police several hours later. He has been charged with second-degree assault. His bond has been set at $15,000.
