Sexual Abuse Allegations at U.S. Prisons Increasing, and Half of Claims Involve Guards, Study Shows


Allegations of sexual abuse in U.S. prisons and jails are increasing, though researchers are unsure whether the trend represents increased reports or more frequent incidents, according to a recently released U.S. Department of Justice study.

Correctional officers are responsible for half of the sexual abuse that occurs at facilities throughout the nation.
