Severe Weather Brings Wind, Rain to the Wiregrass
Severe thunderstorms with damaging straight-line winds moved through the wiregrass Tuesday, downing trees and power lines in several communities.
Just before 1:00pm on Tuesday, the Storm Prediction Center out of Norman, Oklahoma issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for much of the area.
Later, several severe thunderstorms that had damaging winds in excess of sixty miles per hour caused some damage. Here’s a rundown of some of the damage reports from around the Wiregrass:
ALABAMA
• Barbour County – 2 Miles West of Eufuala: Power Lines reported down along Barbour Lane
• Geneva County – Several Trees down across the eastern portions of the county, including at Slocomb High School
• Coffee County – Trees downed on Highway 27 and Windcreek Lane
• Houston County – Trees and Power Lines downed; one tree fell on a vehicle at Earline Road and Apache Drive
• Dale County – Trees down on County Route 31, State Route 123 and County Route 43
• Pike County – Roof Damage to a hanger at the Old Brundidge Municipal Airport
FLORIDA
• Walton County – Trees down on Perkins Road
• Leon County – Numerous reports of Trees down; Roof Damage at Piney Z
All of the reports of hail were outside of the wiregrass. No tornadoes were reported in the southeastern United States on Tuesday.
