Geneva County officials say stray and abandoned dogs are becoming an issue.
Earlier this week, nearly 2 dozen puppies were left along a road outside Black, AL.
Judge Fred Hamic says not only is it cruel to the animals, but often abandoned dogs form dangerous packs.
"We’re familiar with the state law which says counties need to have an animal control officer and a dog pound, but we just don't have the money," said Geneva Co. Probate Judge Fred Hamic
There is good news though.
Each of the abandoned puppies is now in a forever home.
