“When both groups spend time together” Smith continued “they learn to understand each other and work together in their pursuit of a quality education for both”.
Montgomery: Senator Harri Anne Smith (I) Slocomb, announced today that she has secured a $5000.00 Community Service Grant to be used to help construct a new playground at the Morris Slingluff Elementary School in Dothan.
The playground and its equipment will be designed to accommodate “Special Needs” students as well as those who do not need such equipment.
Senator Smith said “There is a great deal of data that indicates that “inclusive” school curricula can have a significant positive impact on both Special Needs and Non-Special Needs students and we owe it to both groups to do all we can to help.”
Smith concluded: “I am very happy to help in this worthwhile program and I want to thank the teachers, administrators and the parents at Slingluff Elementary for the great program they are creating”
