MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) -- A second former Alabama prison guard has pleaded guilty to being involved in the severe beating of an inmate and helping other prison employees cover it up when the inmate died.
Matthew Davidson pleaded guilty Tuesday afternoon in Montgomery to two counts of violating the civil rights of an inmate and one count of conspiring with other offices to hide it. Davidson could face up to 20 years in prison. But as part of a plea deal, prosecutors agreed not to recommend more than 11.
Another former guard, Scottie Glenn, pleaded guilty in federal court in November 2011 to civil rights and conspiracy charges. Prosecutors agreed to recommend no more than eight years in prison.
Two other former prison employees await trial in the 2010 beating death of Rocrast Mack.
